Photoshop Tips & Tricks

Helpful hints that empower YOU!

By David W. Shelton

This section will feature tips and tricks for Adobe Photoshop that will enable nearly anyone to take advantage of the world's most powerful image editing tool. In the coming months, I'll touch on various topics and questions that I'm frequently asked. So keep coming back, you never know when a new tip will be posted!

Now offering complete on-site training for Adobe Photoshop

(May 7, 2008) Photoshop is easily one of the most advanced and complex applications available today, and its newest version, Adobe Photoshop CS3 is even more capable than ever! With this version, Photoshop has cemented itself once again as the premiere image editing tool in the printing industry (or any visual media).

We now offer complete on-site training for you or your staff and serve the entire Tennessee and Kentucky region. To enquire about rates, available dates, and curriculum, please email us.

Flexibility & Control

The first and biggest tip is just a bit of philosophy. No, I'm not going to put on a white beard and sit on top of a hill somewhere. Photoshop is built with Adobe's philosophy that there should alwas be flexibility and control with everthing they build.

In the coming weeks, I'll clarify that a little more. In the meantime, though, I'll say this: If what you're doing in Photoshop doesn't allow for flexibility (the power to change your mind) or control (absolute precision in your file), then there's more than likely a better way to do it!

I'll offer quick tips that center around the Layers palette, and answer any questions you might have.

So if you have a Photoshop question, email me, and I just might add it to the list!
